Cynllun Eryri – Snowdonia's Plan
The Park is an inspiring and unique environment in which to live, work and visit. We have been gathering your ideas and views on how best to continue looking after and enhancing this amazing place.
From the 9th of July to the 30th of September 2018 we held an initial consultation to gather people’s initial views and ideas. The results are now being used to develop a draft management plan for the National Park.
Cynllun Eryri is being developed in the true spirit of partnership and during the process we will involve a wide audience of local people, businesses, stakeholders, visitors and experts.
The National Park is creating a new partnership Management Plan for the Snowdonia National Park: Cynllun Eryri (‘Eryri’, pronounced e – ru – ree, is the Welsh name for Snowdonia; ‘Cynllun’, pronounced cyn – llin, is the Welsh word for plan). This is an exciting time for us because we get to work with all those who have an interest in looking after the National Park, to create the best plan possible for what we’ll achieve in the next 5 years, and beyond.
Discussions, input and feedback will be used to come up with the best solutions to recognise, prioritise and address challenges and to realise opportunities. The structured and coordinated thinking required to deliver these solutions will then be put at the heart of planning for the future protection and improvement of Snowdonia.
When implemented, Cynllun Eryri will help achieve National Park purposes and deliver on a number of significant national Welsh Government policy objectives, goals and priorities. The most significant of these being the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 and the Environment Act.
The headline areas that we will focus on in this consultation document and in the final plan are the Environment, Health and Well-being and the Communities and Economy of Snowdonia. These three areas are closely linked to the core National Parks purposes.
There are lots of challenges, opportunities and decisions regarding priorities to be made. Watch our short film: This explores some of the main challenges, opportunities and decisions that need to be made from various perspectives.
Working together on Cynllun Eryri we can achieve great things – we believe that together our ideas and actions will create better solutions to protect and improve Snowdonia.
What's happening now?
We're collating and considering all comments received during the initial consultation and will publish a report on this consultation. We’ll use this report to inform and shape Cynllun Eryri.
We aim to consult on the final plan in 2019.
We will update stakeholders on the process via a regular newsletter. If you’d like to be added to our mailing list for the newsletter please sign-up.
