Priority Species (Snowdonia LBAP)

Objectives of the Snowdonia Biodiversity Action Plan

1. To maintain and enhance the Biodiversity of Snowdonia by:

  • protecting the natural population and distribution of species - not only rare and endangered ones but common ones as well
  • protecting natural and semi-natural habitats and ecosystems within which species can be maintained
  • identifying, if appropriate, habitats for re-creation schemes and/or species for re-establishment and reintroduction schemes

2. To contribute to the conservation of UK and global Biodiversity by integrating with national and international targets.

3. To encourage greater involvement and 'ownership' of the BAP among members of the local community and those who visit the Park.

4. To increase public awareness of the Snowdonia BAP.

5. To monitor effectiveness of the BAP at regular intervals.

6. To seek to ensure that the BAP is a living and long-term working document.
