Renewable Energy

Renewable energy is defined as energy which comes from natural resources which replenish themselves and includes sunlight, water, wind and geothermal. Included in this mix is low carbon energy which is energy from a non-renewable source but where the design of the system produced far less carbon emission than a traditional energy system such as biomass technologies.

Generating renewable energy can help reduce your carbon footprint. It can help homes, communities and businesses make their energy supply more secure and help you save on energy bills.

The National Park Authority is supportive of renewable energy development where it is in keeping with existing development patterns and where it can be accommodated without serious detriment to the landscape of the National Park.
