Description:

Drawing skills, perspective, tonal values and colour theory are all areas that will be demonstrated and practiced during this course. By combining ink drawings and watercolour washes a pleasing, fresh result to you painting will be achieved. Weather permitting we will be taking our inspiration in the beautiful grounds of Plas Tan Y Bwlch. Demonstration and one to one tuition will be ongoing throughout this enjoyable and interesting course.

The aim of this painting course is to explore techniques with watercolours and ink. Drawing skills, perspective, tonal values and colour theory are all areas that will be demonstrated and practiced during this course. By combining ink drawings and watercolour washes a pleasing, fresh result to you painting will be achieved. Weather permitting, we will be taking our inspiration in the beautiful grounds of Plays Tan Y Bwlch. Demonstration and one to one tuition will be ongoing throughout this enjoyable and interesting course.

Materials
* Sketch book
* Watercolour paints
* Watercolour brushes
* Watercolour paper – pad or loose sheets (‘bockingford’ 140lb weight)
* Technical ink pens – (waterproof) 0.3 and 0.5 nibs (black or sepia)
* Drawing board
* Drawing equipment – pencils, rubber, etc (a propelling pencil is best for drawing buildings)
* Masking tape, kitchen roll
For working outdoors:
A fold up chair. Easel.
A bag to carry equipment
*a watercolour pad is probably more useful to work outside rather than carrying a drawing board
*I have ‘Bockingford’ paper for sale during the course.

Saturday
08.15 Breakfast
09.15 Getting started in Plas grounds (weather permitting). Or in the studio from photographs. Individual work and one to one tuition
12.30 Lunch
13.30 Demonstration – techniques using ink pens. Creating tone and texture with ink.
18.30 Dinner
19.30 Demonstration – applying watercolour washes to work – colour theory and colour mixing
