This workshop is a creative approach for students who feel their paintings need the vitality and verve demonstrated in contemporary art, including abstraction. A ready-made answer for those who do not know where to begin or for those whose efforts have failed to impress.
Painters generally, become aware that their current work is but a pastiche of earlier work, with few of the ‘sparks’ that once brought life to their paintings and lift to their imaginative output and enjoyment. This is a course in which many of the conversations / methods, subjects, style and approaches to your painting will be exchanged for something different. Emphasis is on originality, vision, and the personal targets necessary to move towards a looser, and unconventional (and possibly) a more stimulating direction. If you are prepared to adapt or adopt other ways of painting, but do not know where to begin, the course aims to open doors to unconventional beginnings and a loosening of the prejudices that restrict one’s artistic agenda.
Be prepared to creative workshops and demos and mind and process stretching exercises. Re-think your approach to painting ‘Outside the Box’.
The course is designed to help would be artists see their work from new angles and to draw on their imagination without it being tied to a single method, media or overworked subject matter.
Conventions can be exchanged for something more playful, more testing, challenging and even unconventional – Now, that’s a challenge!
Demonstrations, techniques, composition and a plethora of ideas enables originality. It provides instruction to move from convention and towards a more stimulating direction.
