Jean Napier MA (Hons)

Jean Napier is a professional photographer specialising in the fields of expedition, social documentary and landscape photography.  She is a tutor of photography and runs many different types of technical and creative courses at a number of locations throughout the UK and in Europe. Jean has published many books on the Welsh landscape including three following the rivers of North Wales from source to mouth.

Born in the East-end of London, she has lived in Wales since 1991, working as an outdoor pursuit/personal development tutor and photographer.  She is a keen mountaineer and her love of Wales comes across in her stark black-and-white images of the Welsh countryside and her main inspiration is the magnificent Snowdonia National Park.

She started an MA in Fine Art with Photography as her medium in Aberystwyth University in September 2013 and completed it in 2015.

Come and explore with her the magnificent and varied landscape of North Wales where we will visit rivers, coasts, mountains and gorges.  Weather-permitting we will also visit the ruined slate quarries nearby and possibly see a steam train!

Jean will give one-to-one tuition throughout the course.

Don’t forget to bring your camera ‘manual’.

Participants need to be able to walk a minimum of two miles on rough track ways. Time will be spent on Saturday evening reviewing your images taken that day. As the whole day will be spent outside with a certain amount of walking, please bring a flask, waterproof clothing, walking boots & rucksack.  A packed lunch will be provided
