Fishing

Did you know that Snowdonia offers some of the most beautiful and exhilarating spots for fishing? Ranging from mountainous locations, to lakes, rivers and beaches, Snowdonia offers a variety of locations and landscapes, where you can enjoy fishing, for all sorts of fish.

Llyn Cwellyn lies in magical surroundings to the north, in the shadows of Snowdon and the surrounding mountains and is home to wild brown trout and char. The Mawddach river snakes its way through the calm of southern Snowdonia, and there you can fish for wild trout, salmon and sea trout. Llyn Tegid, located outside Bala is the largest natural lake in Wales, and the surrounding Berwyn, Aran Benllyn and Arenig mountains ensure that this is a magnificent location to spend the day fishing. Llyn Tegid is a great location for those who like fishing, and you can fish for perch, roach, pike, trout, grayling, eels and salmon during the season.

If you are planning on game or coarse fishing, you must have an appropriate permit. These can be purchased from fishing shops and fisheries. You must also be a national permit holder, and these are on sale in Post Offices and on the Environment Agency Website.

Many of Snowdonia's rivers have accessible facilities, such as fishing platforms, so that everyone can enjoy fishing here.

Fishing Wales website has all the information you need for your fishing trip.
