An enjoyable, influencing course that opens doors concerning the “where do I go from here” problem and “how do I obtain the ideas and know how that will enable me to find success and pleasure in my painting?” …. All painters, even experienced artists meet this brick wall yet, with ample tuition and a life-times of ideas and examples you can paint what you’ve always wanted to.
A course for all painters that is enjoyable and influencing that opens doors concerning the ‘where do I go from here’ problem and ‘how do I obtain the ideas and know how’ that will enable me to find success and pleasure in my painting. All painters even experienced artists meet this ‘brick wall’ yet with ample tuition and Howard’s life-times of ideas and examples you can paint the way you have always wanted to. One to one tuition and practical guidance is one factor, while a willingness to experiment is another. You will be shown how to bring your very own distinctive palette and how best to link your present work with new found ideas. The course promises to be very interesting, not over demanding, but mostly rewarding. Explore traditional and new exploratory methods of painting with a variety of techniques aimed at encouraging students to realise the expressive qualities of acrylic and/or oil paints.
This course is designed for those who prefer a diverse and imaginative approach to instruction and practice, plus a varied diet of tuition, demonstrations and ‘Why not try this’ sessions.

AM Studio: Starting Points – concerning levels of experience and anticipated outcomes. Looking / finding / using an idea
PM Exercises in working with and around media. Concrete and ‘make-y Uppi. Following a visit.

09:15 Field Trip. Free Drawing and energetic colour
14:00 Possible ideas and practice
16:00 To create 2D or 3D work.
19:30 Studio – A show of paintings and ideas from Howard
09:15 Field Trip (stout shoes advised): Simplifying the visual. Sharp, simple starting points. Creating small works in a hurry.

Keep it simple – You will need paper, an A4 or A3 pad would be ideal. A small A5 pocket size sketchbook. Any paints and brushes you will need (acrylics preffered). Scissors and craft knife. Pencils – 2B – 4B. A Biro and 4 new fat felt tipped marker pens. A small cardboard box 6” x 4” x 3”. A roll of sellotape. Though not essential students might wish to purchase cheap simple frames that accepts 4” paintings from cheap discount stockists. IPad, Mobile Phone and / or camera if you have them.
